DETROIT – The DivDat Kiosk Network is pleased to welcome the City of Ecorse to its multi-biller payment network. Effective January 31, 2020, residents are able to pay their water and property taxes more conveniently through DivDat`s “No-Fee” Kiosk, Mobile app, and web pay services.

“We applaud CFO Tim Sadowski, Treasurer Marilyn Oliver and her team for embracing this proven technology to enhance customer service, saving both time and money while also increasing the propensity to pay,” said DivDat President Jason Bierkle.

Ecorse residents using any of the DivDat Kiosks to pay their Ecorse water and property taxes may do so by either typing in their name or scanning the barcode on their bill. The kiosk will automatically display any balances owed. The DivDat kiosks are linked in real time with the city’s information system to provide amounts owed as well as printed or emailed payment receipts.

Individuals opting to use the DivDat mobile app can simply download the mobile app from their favorite online app store. The app also features a QR code that pairs with the kiosk for scanning and faster cash payments. The mobile app will store your receipts and history of payments and allows users to make payments to other agencies on the network as well.

Ecorse Mayor, Lamar Tidwell said, “This system is a plus for the residents of Ecorse. It saves them, time, trouble and allows them to pay their bill anytime of the day.” Although, Ecorse residents can use any of the Kiosks, there are two locations that are convenient to the City of Ecorse. They are City Hall 3869 W. Jefferson and the Marathon gas station in River Rouge located at 10550 W. Jefferson Ave.

The DivDat Kiosk Network assists some 100,000 people per month pay their DTE Energy, 36th District Court, Detroit Water bills (DWSD), Wayne County Delinquent Taxes or Current City of Detroit taxes as well as a host of other City of Detroit bills including personal property taxes, Renter’s Escrow Program and many other programs coming on line with the DivDat Kiosk Network. “The Kiosk corporate and government users have worked with us to create a unique customer service model in a public-private alliance dedicated to leveling the “paying” field by charging no fees to consumers to pay their bills,” said Bierkle. “We are very proud of these organizations, and we are working hard to reduce agency fees by adding additional agencies to the network and other efficiencies.”

Bierkle added that the return on investment for kiosk billers is enhancing treasury functions as well as increasing cash flow. Kiosk payment channel accounting and reconciliation is done automatically daily, and customers receive a valid company receipt with each transaction. He said that additional benefits for billers include reductions in shutoffs and reconnections as well as freeing up staff time to assist customers with payment programs or other complex transactions. Companies have also re-assigned cashiers to other customer service roles, and no jobs have been lost due to the kiosk deployments.

“For many consumers, being forced to pay a two or three-dollar charge for each bill they pay creates a hardship and the kiosk is one of the few places where people who prefer to use cash can do so without paying a convenience fee.” said Bierkle.
