Dr. King is active in his professional capacity having served two three-year terms as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the former St. John's Northeast Hospital. King also served on the Board of Trustee's for the St. John Health System. He is the former Executive Director of the Detroit Neighborhood and Family Initiative (DNFI).

Dr. King’s Community focus is equally formidable. He has served as Chair Public Policy Committee of Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), Member Board of Trustees for Michigan Habitat for Humanity, Member Advisory Committee for DTE, Past Chair of the Board of Trustee’s for the St. John’s Northeast Hospital; Member of the Board of Directors, St. John Health System; Chair of Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiatives; Board Member of New Detroit, Member of Detroit Public Schools Bond Oversight Committee, Moderator of the Metropolitan Congress of Christian Education; Wayne County Sheriff’s Chaplin, Past President of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity; former Chair of the Board for Detroit Urban League; past member of the Board of the Greater Detroit Chamber of Commerce.
