DETROIT—DivDat Kiosk Network, a high-tech payment and invoicing company, has honored four Kiosk user organizations for helping to expand No-Fee payment methods to some 75,000 monthly Metro Detroiters in November of 2017, it was announced today.
“We are very excited that our key Kiosk Network clients have embraced the DivDat Kiosk Network to better serve customers, reduce costs and enhance new technologies to make life easier for people in Metro Detroit,” said Jason Bierkle, President of DivDat.
Bierkle presented awards to the Wayne County Treasurer, City of Detroit Treasurer, Detroit Water and Sewerage Department and DTE Energy for their respective achievements in 2017 related to use of the Kiosk Network.
At its year-end User Advisory Group meeting on November 28, DivDat presented an award to the City of Detroit Treasurer for its adoption of a Mobile App that allows people to pay their tax bills on a smart phone. Some 25 percent of all payments since July have been made using the app created by DivDat.
Also honored was the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department for its rapid adoption of new technologies including the Kiosk and a voice app that is compatible with Alexis so people can check on their water bills information by just asking Alexa.
DivDat awarded the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office its Kiosk promotion award for the efforts of Treasurer Eric Sabree and his staff in community outreach on the availability and placement of some 45 kioks in Wayne County where delinquent taxes or tax payment plans can be paid.
Lastly, DivDat honored DTE Energy for its achievement of overall transaction numbers for energy payments using the DivDat Kiosk Network. To date more than 1 million transactions have been made on the kiosks.
“The Kiosk corporate and government users have worked with us to create a public-private alliance dedicated to leveling the paying field by charging no fees to consumers to pay their bills,” said Bierkle. “We are very proud of these organizations and we are working hard to reduce biller costs by adding additional billers to the network and other efficiencies.”
Bierkle added that the Return on Investment for major billers is they obtain payments in a more timely fashion, the accounting and reconciliation is done automatically daily and the customers receive a valid company receipt at the time of transaction. He said that additional benefits for billers include reductions in shutoffs and reconnections as well as freeing up staff time to assist customers with payment programs or other complex transactions.
“For many consumers, being forced to pay a two or three dollar charge for each bill they pay creates a hardship and the kiosk is one of the few places where people who prefer to use cash can do so without paying a convenience fee,” said Bierkle. “The news that you can now also pay water bills and property tax bills is being very positively received by consumers, who now have a one-stop kiosk at a local convenient place for payments.”
